Maela Ohana is a visual artist and curator based in Montreal, Canada. She is also founder of The Archive Collective magazine, a brilliant publication highlighting the best of the global creative community. Maela’s personal work explores both the uncanny and the mundane observed in nature. The series featured below, Night Vision, is a collection of plant portraits shot between sundown and first light:
“Lately I’ve been enchanted by the mysteries of nature at night – when the world is silent and strange, enveloped in darkness. The process of photographing nature this way creates a deliberate relationship towards the subject, since the limited lighting constrains the focus to a very small portion of the overall frame. In that sense it veers away from landscape photography and approaches the more intimate realms of portraiture or still life.”
