Josh Tanasichuk is a photographer living in British Columbia, Canada. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Environmental Studies, Josh secured an internship as a production assistant. He has since focused on building a portfolio of documentary media exploring topics where culture and community intersect with social and environmental issues.
“Much of my current work is shot on 35mm and medium format film and processed in a darkroom, though I do still work with digital stills and video when a project requires.
Homegrown explores the work and lives of small-scale food producers in British Columbia, particularly those employing environmentally friendly and sustainable practices. The project focuses on the integration of these farms into the local community and their tendency to house their own tight-knit community. Homegrown shows food production as something more than business; it shows food production as integrated into social life.”
