Ballads 2016 – 2018 is an ongoing series from Vermont-born, Brooklyn-based photographer Ethan Covey. The series consists of photographs from more than two years of travels and currently includes 75 images, shot in 17 locations worldwide and organised into four ‘seasons’ according to color and shade of light.

“The images depict ‘portraits of light’ – moments when a quality of light caught my eye and seemed to illuminate a something, poetic and fleeting. They are a document of forgotten times, moments passed over while navigating the expanse of our days. In this, they are photographs of our lives, portraits of the quotidian where individuals and the tangle of our lives exist just beyond the frame.”
